Decoders that add wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to the factory PCM screen. The collection covers PCM 3.1 and PCM 4.0. The difference is easy to spot: PCM 3.1 has a numeric keypad below the screen, PCM 4.0 does not.

CarPlay modules for Porsche: PCM 3.1 and PCM 4.0
Porsche is the simplest brand in the catalogue. Two systems, and telling them apart takes about three seconds.
Identifying the system
A small screen, around 7 inches, framed by a grid of physical buttons is PCM 3.1 — roughly 2009 to 2016, across the Cayenne, Panamera, Macan, 911, Boxster and Cayman. A large glass panel of about 12 inches with almost no buttons around it is PCM 4.0, from 2017 onwards.
Points worth knowing
On PCM 3.1 the case is simple: these cars have no CarPlay at all and never did, so the module adds it outright, along with AirPlay and Mirror Link.
On PCM 4.0 the reasoning is different and worth being precise about. Those cars usually already have CarPlay, but wired only, and in most markets no Android Auto whatsoever. The module removes the cable and adds Android Auto. If you drive an iPhone, do not mind plugging in, and have no interest in Android Auto, you do not need it — and we would rather say so.
Both modules keep PCM navigation, Online Services, Sport Chrono, the reversing camera and the Burmester or Bose system exactly as they were.
