Portable CarPlay screens for cars without a factory display

A retrofit module works by sitting between the factory head unit and the screen. If there is no usable screen, there is nothing to sit behind — and that is the gap a portable display fills.

Which cars these are for

Older vehicles with a radio and no display, base trims with a small monochrome screen, vans and commercial vehicles, and cars sold with a removable phone cradle rather than an integrated head unit — the VW Up being the common example.

They are also the practical answer for brands we do not have a module for, including Ford, Honda, Lexus, Mini and Volvo.

Technical notes

The screen mounts on the dashboard or windscreen and runs independently of the car's electronics, so no compatibility check is needed and nothing about the vehicle is modified. Audio reaches the car over Bluetooth or the FM transmitter, and power comes from the 12 V socket.

It is not an integrated solution and it does not look factory. What it does is work where nothing else will.
